Beautiful. Sometimes the harder spiritual thing is the less physically difficult choice. Also a father of three (soon to be 4 in a month) and this balance of taking on my personal self-imposed summits (love the name of your son by the way) while remembering my why behind it is a daily thing I reflect on to help color my thoughts and decisions. Good problem to have
Isn’t being a parent a race with a beginning and no end? 🤣
Great post. I’m impressed that you took that run with your son. Two difficult challenges, raising a son and finishing that race. Taking only 4 sec to sort priorities and decide. Impressive.
I’m curious, I’ve lived in Alabama. I don’t recall seeing any mountains. Did you find it a handicap to only train at sea level?
Thanks for putting this out in the world man! Great to hear you're insights and experience leading up to it. Congratulations on stepping up and getting it done, and in keeping with your biggest picture goals (Dad, spouse). Keep up the great work 💪🎯⚡🪨🏺

Thanks Kyle, and congrats on number 4! Being a father is the best race of all.

Up north, there are some decent hills and mountains. Where I’m at, it’s pretty flat. I think the heat training helped me the most.
The humidity here is stifling. When I got to Death Valley it was hot but I was grateful to not be in Alabama running 135 miles.
❤️👊🏻
